Your First Visit to Smith Elite
No surprises. No pressure. Just a clear picture of what's going on and a plan to help. We know that walking into a new healthcare office can feel uncertain, especially if you've never been to a neurologically focused chiropractor before, or you're bringing your child for the first time.
What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first visit to Smith Elite is all about discovery. We want to understand your story, your concerns, and what's happening inside your nervous system, before we ever recommend any care.
Here's how it works: You'll begin with a one on one consultation where we listen to your health history, your goals, and what brought you in. We take time to really hear you. Then we move into a comprehensive neuro spinal exam, which includes our CLA INSiGHT neurological scans, a three part, noninvasive assessment that measures how your nervous system is actually functioning.
CLA INSiGHT scans are painless, radiation free, and safe for everyone, including newborns and pregnant moms. They measure surface EMG (muscle tension patterns along the spine), thermal patterns (temperature differences that reveal nervous system stress), and heart rate variability (your body's ability to adapt to stress). Together, these scans give us an objective, data driven picture of your nervous system, not just where you feel pain, but how your body is actually functioning.
The entire first visit typically takes about 45 to 60 minutes. There is no adjustment on day one. We take the time to review everything thoroughly before recommending any care.
After your first visit, both Dr. G and Dr. Jon review your results together. You'll return for a dedicated Report of Findings appointment where we walk you through your scan results, explain what we found, and present a personalized care plan tailored to your needs and goals. No cookie cutter plans. No surprises.
What Concerns Does the First Visit Address?
Your first visit gives us the information we need to address a wide range of health concerns, for patients of all ages:
Nervous system dysfunction, stress, interference, and imbalance that affect whole body function
Pediatric concerns, colic, reflux, ear infections, tongue tie, ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing, autism support
Pregnancy and postpartum challenges, pelvic pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, breech positioning, postpartum recovery
Adult conditions, headaches, migraines, neck pain, back pain, sciatica, chronic stress

The first visit helps us identify the root cause, not just manage the symptom, so your care plan is built on objective data from day one.

What To Expect
Step by Step: Your First Visit Experience
Here is exactly what to expect when you come in for your first visit:
Step 1, Consultation
You'll meet with one of our doctors for a one on one conversation. We'll go through your health history, discuss your current concerns, and talk about your goals for care. This isn't a rushed intake, we want to understand your full story.
Step 2, CLA INSiGHT Neurological Scans
We'll run three noninvasive, painless scans: surface EMG, thermal imaging, and heart rate variability. These take just a few minutes and are completely safe for patients of all ages, including newborns and pregnant women.
Step 3, Neuro Spinal Exam
Our doctors conduct a comprehensive physical examination of your spine and nervous system. This gives us the clinical picture that complements your scan data.
Step 4, Report of Findings (Separate Appointment)
After reviewing your results together, we invite you back for a dedicated Report of Findings. We walk you through your scan results, explain what we found and why it matters, and present a personalized care plan. You'll know exactly what's happening, what it will take to address it, and what to expect going forward.
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothing (no need to change, but avoid restrictive outfits)
Any relevant health records or imaging (X rays, MRIs) if available
A list of current medications or supplements
Your questions, we love them
If bringing a child: a favorite comfort item; plan for a relaxed, kid friendly experience
