What Age Should a Baby or Child See a Chiropractor?

There is no minimum age for chiropractic care. We see babies within days of birth, toddlers, school-age kids, and teenagers, and each visit looks different because each nervous system is at a different stage.

Birth itself, even an uncomplicated one, puts real pressure on a newborn’s spine and nervous system. Many parents bring their baby in during the first few weeks specifically because of that, along with common newborn concerns like difficulty latching, colic, reflux, or a preference for turning the head to one side. A newborn assessment is gentle enough that most babies sleep right through it.

As babies become mobile, crawling, pulling up, and eventually walking, their spine goes through a lot of small falls and impacts that adults never think about. Parents often bring toddlers in after a hard fall, or simply to keep their nervous system supported through a stage of rapid physical development.

School-age kids typically come in for the same reasons adults do, headaches, posture from sitting at a desk or looking at a screen, sports bumps and falls, or growing pains, plus support for focus, sensory processing, and immune health during a stage where their bodies are asking a lot of their nervous system. Teenagers usually see us for sports performance, posture, and stress on a rapidly growing frame.

At every age, we start the same way: a full CLA INSiGHT scan before any adjustment. That gives us objective data on what your child’s nervous system is actually doing, so care is based on what we find, not on your child’s age or a generic protocol.

If you are not sure whether it is the “right time” to bring your child in, the simplest answer is that there is no wrong age to start. Schedule a consultation and scan, and we will tell you honestly what we see.
